Omar – Amputee Case

Jericho

Summary

A young man’s recovery depends on urgent medical support. Omar lost both of his legs during the war and now requires specialised treatment and prosthetic limbs that are not accessible locally.

Background

Omar Abdul Qader, also known as Abu Ali, was severely injured during the war on 23rd September. As a result of his injuries, both of his legs were amputated.

Since then, Omar has been living with significant physical challenges, alongside ongoing untreated injuries to his abdomen and hand. Access to the level of care he needs is extremely limited, and the specialised treatment required for his recovery is not available locally.

In order to regain mobility and begin rebuilding his life, Omar urgently needs to travel abroad for advanced medical treatment, including the fitting of prosthetic limbs.  What should now be a period of recovery has instead become a prolonged struggle, due to the lack of accessible medical support.
