Summary
Background
Firas AbdalRaheem Ibrahim Njoom is a 42-year-old man who has been suffering from pain
in his left hip for several years.
Medical investigations found Grade 3 avascular necrosis (AVN) of the left femoral head,
measuring approximately 39 mm in the coronal axis and 44 mm in the sagittal axis, with a
large subchondral fracture.
In March 2024, Firas underwent core decompression surgery without bone grafting in
an attempt to treat the affected hip.
Unfortunately, his condition has continued to deteriorate.
His latest assessment in April 2026 found:
● Progressive groin and hip pain, particularly during weight-bearing activities
● Stiffness and reduced range of movement
● A limp when walking
● Approximately 1 cm of shortening
● Occasional discomfort at night
● Reduced internal rotation of the hip
● Tenderness over the front of the hip
A follow-up X-ray dated 13 April 2026 showed subchondral collapse, flattening of the
femoral head and degenerative joint disease.
His orthopedic surgeon has therefore recommended a cementless total hip replacement
using a ceramic-on-polyethylene (CoPE) implant.

Aims
The campaign will aim to raise the funds required for:
● Firas’s recommended total hip replacement surgery
● The required hip replacement implant and associated surgical costs
● Necessary medical care and support related to his treatment and recovery
Outcomes
Without support:
● Firas will continue to experience worsening hip and groin pain
● His mobility and ability to carry out weight-bearing activities will remain severely affected
● The damage and degeneration in his hip may continue to impact his quality of life
● Access to the recommended hip replacement surgery will remain out of reach
With your help:
● Firas can access the hip replacement surgery recommended by his orthopedic surgeon
● His mobility can be improved
● His pain and functional difficulties may be reduced
● He can have the opportunity to regain greater independence in his daily life
Firas has already undergone previous treatment for his hip condition, but unfortunately his
hip has continued to deteriorate.
He now needs a total hip replacement.
This is not routine treatment. His latest imaging confirms that the femoral head has collapsed
and developed degenerative changes, and his orthopedic surgeon has recommended hip
replacement surgery.
With your support, Firas can receive the treatment he urgently needs and have the
opportunity to move towards a life with greater mobility and independence.
