Save the sight of a displaced Palestinian brother

Jericho

Summary

We are making an urgent humanitarian appeal on behalf of a 55-year-old Palestinian man from Gaza, currently displaced and living in Jericho camp since October 2023. He is suffering from advanced diabetic retinopathy, a serious complication of diabetes that is already affecting his vision — and without immediate treatment, he faces permanent blindness.

Background

He has been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes over 11 years ago

  • Critically poor blood sugar control (HbA1c: 9.5%)
  • Diagnosed with sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy
  • Already began treatment, but it must continue without interruption

Why It’s Urgent:

He has received his first injection, but his follow-up is scheduled for:

  • September 13, 2025
  • Each treatment session requires intravitreal injections and laser therapy, costing:
  • 500 ILS per eye (~£105 total)

What could happen:

  • He could lose his eyesight permanently
  • His quality of life and independence will be severely diminished
  • He will become fully dependent whilst living amid a growing humanitarian crisis
